Decade of Prayer and Evangelism - Dr. Jason Hubbard
This Pentecost, May 27th and 28th, will mark the beginning of a decade of prayer, evangelism, and discipleship, launching a ten-year journey of global collaboration among Bible-based denomination churches and missionary organizations responding to Jesus' Commission to make disciples of all nations – mobilizing the entire body of Christ for one Bible, one believer, and one body of Christ within everyone's reach. Everyone needs to know someone who is a Christian. Everyone needs to have access to the Scriptures. Everyone needs to have a church they can reach, and why?
Due to Jesus' absolute worth, He deserves all our worship, all our obedience, and all our affections.
We are currently in the year 2023, 10 years from 2033, the 2000th anniversary of Jesus' death, burial, resurrection, ascension, the Church's Commission, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. Organizations and collaborations across the entire Body of Christ are uniting in obedience to the Lord's call:
The first Protestant missions movement emerged from a group of Moravians led by Count Zinzendorf, who dedicated his community to a scripture found in Isaiah 62.
“On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have set watchmen; all day and all night they shall never be silent. You who put the Lord in remembrance, take no rest, and give him no rest until he establishes Jerusalem and makes it a praise in the earth.” ( Isaías 62:6-7 )
The Moravian community established day and night prayer and worship following a move of the Holy Spirit, and from this community, a 100-year, 24/7 prayer meeting began, resulting in one of the largest missionary movements in the history of the Church.
Just like the Moravians, I believe we are witnessing today the convergence of a worldwide prayer and missions movement across the globe, until Jerusalem becomes a praise in the earth!
This Pentecost will also be the 3rd Day World Prayer Day for over 100 million believers of Jewish, Arab, and Gentile origin focused on praying for the salvation of Israel and the Jewish people worldwide. With Paul's promise in Romanos 11:11-12 ,
“I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come salvation has come to the Gentiles. 12 Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their loss riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness!
Each year, from 2023 to 2033, global prayer movements commit to praying for the world’s 110 least-reached cities on four global prayer days each year: for the Buddhist world, the Muslim world, the Jewish world, and the Hindu world! We are praying together for Jesus Christ to be enthroned as King over these unreached cities and nations, with the vision of making disciples of all nations!
2033 COMMITMENT:
A CALL TO THE WORLDWIDE CHURCH FOR A DECADE OF GREAT COMMISSION EFFORT
Recognizing the need of over eight billion people on earth to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus Christ,
Believing that God our Savior has provided the way of salvation for all people through the mediating work of His Son, and that it is not His will for anyone to perish, but for all to come to repentance,
Responding to Jesus' commission to go and make disciples of all nations, preaching the gospel to everyone in the power of the Holy Spirit,
As the 2000th anniversary of Christ's Crucifixion, Resurrection, Ascension, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost approaches,
Therefore, we join in:
- Collaborating with one another toward the fulfillment of the Great Commission
- Pray for the salvation of our family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and the people of the nations of the world.
- Mobilize the followers of Jesus entrusted to our ministry and local churches to reach every person on earth with His grace and truth.
- Invest greater resources in evangelistic efforts, especially for people who have never heard the gospel.
- Go with the good news using all available means so that everyone may have the opportunity to know Jesus Christ.
We dedicate our lives to obeying Christ's command and call the global Church to join with us in making the next ten years the greatest decade of Great Commission effort in history.
